2005 NFL Mock Draft
  Home Page

Updated April 23

This is my finally draft note I did not predict trades in my draft.

ROUND 1

1. 49ers- Alex Smith QB (Utah).  He's rated higher than Rodgers on thr 49'ers board and don't think they'll be able to trade this pick.

2. Dolphins- Braylon Edwards WR (Michigan).  Saban still wants to trade this pick but he has stated that he'll take the BPA at this spot if he stays.

3. Browns- Aaron Rodgers QB (CAL).  I think the Browns will take Rodgers because they probably won't be able to trade since Edwards is gone but if they do they'll pick Merriman.

4. Bears- Cedric Benson RB (Texas).  Reports are the Bears like this guy over the Auburn backs and probably take him here if they cant trade down.

5. Bucs- Ronnie Brown RB (Auburn).  RB is the Bucs biggest need and Brown is thought to be the top back on most boards.  Note they could go with Mike Williams.

6. Titans- Antrel Rolle CB (Miami).  They lost Samari Rolle and CB is the hot postition in the NFL now.  They might trade down a few spots and pick up Barron.

7. Vikings-  Mike Williams WR (USC).  They get lucky and get Williams although its likely that both the Bucs and Titans might take him.  .

8. Cardinals- Adam Jones CB (WV).  They trade away Starks and i think they'll get Henry in a trade or take a back in round two.

9. Redskins- Carlos Rogers CB (Auburn).  Gibbs prefers Rogers over Adam Jones.

10. Lions- Derrick Johnson OLB (Texas).  They lost Claiborne and Johnson is the best OLB in the draft.

11. Cowboys- Shawn Merriman DE/OLB(Maryland).  Parcells has said he wants to improve the front seven.

12. Chargers- Demarcus Ware DE/OLB (Troy).  Chargers need to improve their pass rush it was the weekest spot on the team.

13. Texans- Alex Barron OT (FSU).  This is their biggest need and he's the best OT in the draft.

14. Panthers- Carnell Williams RB (Auburn).  One of the top 3 backs is gonna slide and since the Bears like Benson it looks like Williams.

15. Chiefs- Troy Williamson WR (SC).  They picked up Surtain and the Chiefs wideouts core isnt that deep or good.

16. Saints- Thomas Davis OLB/S (Georgia).  BPA and the Saints need help at both Safety and Linebacker.

17. Bengals- Travis Johnson DT (FSU).  Johnson is the only blue chip DT in the draft and the Bengals need a DT.

18. Vikings- David Pollack DE (Georgia).  Vikings are looking for some to lineup opposite of Udeze.

19. Rams- Jamaal Brown OT (Oklahoma).  They need a RT badly.

20. Cowboys- Marcus Spears DE (LSU).  Another guy in the front seven and some their targeting.  He's drop a little cause of his weight.

21. Jaguars- Marlin Jackson CB (Michigan).  Has really moved up since everyone now knows he has the speed to play Corner.

22. Ravens- Mark Clayton WR (Oklahoma).  They need another wideout to go along with Mason.  They are trying to trade for Cory Simon so this pick might be in that trade.

23. Seahawks- Erasmus James DE (Wisconsin).  'Hawks need some serious help at DE and James would have been a top ten pick if not for injuries.

24. Packers- Matt Roth DE (Iowa).  I had Brodney Pool but the Pack signed both Little and Freeman at Safety so they wont go there until later.  Here the Pack fill there biggest need which is DE.

25. Redskins- Jason Campbell QB (Auburn).  Reports are this is the guy they made the trade for.

26. Raiders- Fabian Washington CB (Nebraska).  Trade away one Buchanon already and might trade Woddosn as well.

27. Falcons- Brodney Pool S (Oklahoma).  Pool is a starter right away at Safety and the Falcons cut Cory Hall so he'll be needed.

28. Chargers- Khalif Barnes OT (Washington).  Looking for someone to replace the ageing Oben.  If the Falcons take Barnes then they'll take Pool.

29. Colts- Daryl Blackstock OLB (Virginia).  A real playmaker here which the Colts need on defense.

30. Steelers- Heath Miller TE (Virginia).  Steelers haven't had a real TE in years plus losing Burress they need another target.

31. Eagles- Roddy White (UAB).  TO is start problems again with his contract and Freddie Mitchell isnt coming back.

32. Pats- Odell Thurman ILB (Georgia).  We dont how Bruschi is gonna be so Thurman is insurence.
